  • Bagumbayan
    • Bagumbayan or “baging Bayan” which means New Town was created by virtue of RA. 5960 signed by former President Ferdinand E. Marcos on June 29, 1969. The corporate existence of the municipality begun on January 1, 1970 after a special election of its first elected officials on November, 1969.

  • Columbio
    • Columbio is located in the eastern most part of the province. It is bounded in the north by the municipality of Tulunan, Cotabato; in the east by the municipalities of Tupi and Tampakan, South Cotabato; and in the west by the municipalities of Koronadal, South Cotabato, Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat and Datu Paglas, Maguindanao.   • Lambayong
    • Lambayong (formerly called Mariano Marcos) was created as a municipality and now part of Sultan Kudarat province by virtue of Executive Order No. 543 signed by the late President Elpidio C. Quirino on October 29, 1952, the name Lambayong was changed to Sultan Sa Barongis then under the administration of the undivided Cotabato province by Republic Act No. 2589 in honor of the late Sultan Sa Barongis believed to be the forefather of the Pendatun family, the ruling elite during this period. On April 29, 1974 upon signing of Presidential Decree No. 339 by the then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sultan Sa Barongis was changed to Mariano Marcos making it part of Sultan Kudarat province. Lambayong is now the adopted name of the municipality after it was changed from Mariano Marcos for the second time. More Information »»
  • President Quirino
    • The seventeen barangays now constituted the municipality of Pres. Quirino were formerly a portion of the municipality of Buluan, Cotabato (mother municipality) now a part of Maguindanao Province after Cotabato was divided into three (3) provinces. These barangays which were inhabited mostly by Ilocanos that migrated from Northern Luzon are Estrella, Bannawag, Mangilala, Mangelen, Suben, Malingon, Tuato (now San Pedro), Sambulawan (Poblacion), Bayawa, Pedtubo, Sinakulay, Tual, Tinaungan, Katico, Kalanawe I, Kalanawe II and Bagumbayan. The residents through their local leaders and people have long desire to be separated as a distinct and independent Municipality.   • Isulan
    • The municipality of Isulan was created by virtue of Executive order No. 266 dated August 30, 1957 with the seat of government at Barangay Kalawag. However, it was only on September 15, 1957 that the municipal government officially functioned with the appointment of its first set of officials headed by Mayor Datu Suma Ampatuan who served as a Mayor until 1967.   • Lutayan
    • Lutayan, before it became a town, was a secluded barrio of Buluan, Cotabato, located in the southern part of Koronadal, Cotabato (now Koronadal, South Cotabato). This community had been progressive before the second world war. It had been very popular because of its markets which become a distributing center of businessman coming from the Provincial Capitol of Cotabato and Dadiangas and even from the different towns of the Province of Cotabato.     • The municipality of Esperanza was created by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 339 dated November 22, 1973 signed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos.   • Senator Ninoy Aquino
    • Before the advent of Christian settlers, Sen. Ninoy Aquino (formerly Kulaman) was one of the moutainous areas that belonged to the territorial cntrol of the Municipality of Kalamansig. The place was inhabited by an ethnic group know as Manobo…The name Kulaman is derived from the famous Sultan of the Valley during the seventeenth century. According to a legnd, there was a time when famine came to the place and th Sultan who was a loving father to his family gathered "kayos", a native food that substitute cereals, for their consumption.
